Hugo Izzo is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) for the state of North Carolina. He has over 25 years of experience working with children (age 6 and up), adolescents, adults, couples and families in a variety of settings. His clinical experience includes treating the following areas: anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, couples therapy, family therapy, trauma, grief, life transition issues, and substance abuse issues.

 

Hugo approaches therapy from an eclectic perspective, using Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. He also integrates faith-based counseling upon request.

Hugo believes in creating a safe, accepting therapeutic environment where people can process their issues, work towards relieving the pain they are experiencing, and gain the skills necessary to live a full, authentic life.

 

Hugo received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Auburn University and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida.
