Whitney Chambers, LCMHC

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

WHITNEY CHAMBERS

Whitney Chambers is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina. She holds a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte as well as a Master of Science in Organizational Communication from North Carolina State University. She worked in human resources and office administration for almost a decade before discovering her true passion for helping others, which led to a career transition as a mental health clinician. Her clients are individual adults (aged 18 years or more), and her clinical focus includes treating the following areas: anxiety, depression, grieving death by suicide, and trauma from a variety of sources including religious organizations.

Whitney understands how life circumstances can test what we think, know, and feel about the world. She knows that not all pain is physical as we go through life’s journey; we can also be impacted mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. With her belief in the human capacity for change no matter the situation, Whitney helps individuals develop skills for communication, resilience, relationships, and resolving traumatic experiences. As a white-bodied woman, Whitney also believes strongly in the personal work and responsibility of interrogating and unlearning “whiteness,” which moves her clinical work towards a decolonized approach for maximizing inclusivity with clients.

By using an eclectic toolkit and drawing from evidence-based models, Whitney implements personalized treatment plans aimed at the therapeutic goals each client has. Her clinical treatments utilize techniques from the following therapy models: Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy for post-traumatic disorders. She is also adept at integrating faith-based counseling for clients who request it.

Having lived in the Triangle area since 2004, Whitney is glad to call Raleigh her home. In her personal time, she enjoys reading, spending time with friends, taking walks in local green spaces, sipping coffee or tea, listening to music, and watching stand-up comedy.
